Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

General Questions

  • What is Pink Pearl Primary Care?
Pink Pearl Primary Care offers a holistic, mobile, and direct primary care model. We bring personalized, in-home care or telehealth visits to you—emphasizing prevention, wellness, and compassionate support across all stages of life.
  • How does Direct Primary Care differ from traditional insurance-based models?
Our membership model focuses on a direct, relationship-based approach. Instead of dealing with insurers, you pay a monthly membership fee that covers a set range of services. This model provides easier access, longer appointment times, and a focus on continuous wellness rather than billing codes.
  • How We Differ from Concierge Medicine
At Pink Pearl Primary Care, we offer Direct Primary Care (DPC) — not concierge care. While both models focus on accessibility and personalized service, there are key differences:
    • What Makes DPC Different:
      • No insurance billing: Concierge practices often bill your insurance and charge a membership fee. At Pink Pearl, we operate completely outside of insurance — keeping care simple and transparent.
      • Flat monthly membership: You pay one affordable monthly fee for primary care visits and direct access. There are no hidden charges, surprise bills, or co-pays.
      • Lower cost: Concierge practices often charge $5000+ per year. Our pricing is designed to stay accessible for individuals and families.
      • Care that comes to you: We are mobile and telehealth-based, bringing care to your home — concierge medicine typically operates from a clinic.
      • Root-cause & holistic focus: We blend traditional primary care with functional medicine, lifestyle support, and putting care back into healthcare.
      • No third-party interference: You and your provider decide what’s best — not an insurance company or corporate office.
    • Bottom Line:
Concierge care is premium-priced care through the traditional system.
DPC is affordable, independent care built around you.

At Pink Pearl Primary Care, you get a provider who knows your story, prioritizes your wellness, and works for you — not for the system.
  • Who can benefit from our services?
Pink Pearl Primary Care provides relationship-based primary care for individuals and families seeking a more personalized approach to healthcare. We care for women, children, and families through a combination of telehealth and in-home care, with an emphasis on prevention, wellness, and whole-person health. Pink Pearl Primary Care is not currently enrolling Medicare beneficiaries. Interested patients may join our Medicare waitlist to be notified when enrollment becomes available.
  • Can Pink Pearl Primary Care be my Primary Care Provider (PCP)?
Yes! Pink Pearl Primary Care offers full-spectrum primary care led by Emely Arrieta-Smith, APRN, a registered autonomous nurse practitioner licensed in the state of Florida.
    • As your PCP, Emely is qualified to:
      • Perform comprehensive wellness exams
      • Diagnose and treat both acute and chronic conditions
      • Order and interpret labs and imaging
      • Prescribe medications
      • Coordinate referrals when needed
      • Provide holistic and lifestyle-based care
    • As an autonomous provider, Emely offers direct access and continuity — without the barriers of traditional clinic systems.

Membership & Payment

  • Does Pink Pearl Primary Care accept insurance?
No, we do not accept insurance of any kind. Pink Pearl Primary Care is a direct primary care (DPC) practice, which means we’ve intentionally chosen to remove insurance from the equation — so we can focus on what truly matters: you and your care.
    • By eliminating third-party interference, we’re able to:
      • Spend more time with patients
      • Offer transparent, upfront pricing
      • Make decisions based on what’s best for your health — not what insurance will approve
      • If you do have insurance, you may be able to use a superbill (a detailed receipt with billing codes) to request reimbursement for out-of-network services directly from your insurance company.
      • Coverage will vary depending on your individual plan and benefits.
      • We’re happy to provide a superbill upon request, but please note that we do not guarantee reimbursement.
  • Why is there a registration fee?
We do charge a minimal registration fee for monthly members, similar to concierge practices — but for a very different reason. For Annual, Semi-annual, and Pay-per-visit registration is included in the pricing.
    • This fee:
      • Secures your place in a small, intentionally limited patient panel
      • Helps cover onboarding, admin, and personalized care planning
      • Ensures we can maintain low monthly membership costs while providing premium, unhurried care
      • Unlike concierge medicine, we’re not billing your insurance on top of this fee — and we don’t rely on inflated pricing. Our retainer supports sustainability and access in a direct care model designed around you.
  • What does the membership fee cover?
Your membership includes ongoing primary care, telehealth visits, direct provider communication, lab ordering and review, medication management when appropriate, preventive care, and care coordination. Your exact benefits depend on the membership selected. Virtual memberships begin with a comprehensive in-home visit to establish care, followed primarily by telehealth care. In-Home memberships provide additional access to scheduled care in the comfort of your home. Labs, medications, procedures, specialty testing, and other services outside the membership may have additional costs. These are discussed with you upfront.
  • Is there a contract or long-term commitment?
We offer a 12 -month membership, allowing you the flexibility to continue care and the ability to cancel memberships at anytime. Contracts automatically terminate after 12 months.
  • Do you offer discounted rates for families or multiple members?
Yes, we offer bundled pricing options that provide discounts when multiple family members are included. Please see our Membership pricing page for tailored details on family memberships.

Appointments & Availability

  • How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments can be scheduled directly through our website, by phone, or via our secure patient portal. Whether you need an in-home visit or a telehealth consultation, our scheduling process is designed for convenience and prompt access.
  • What if I need urgent care?
We offer priority scheduling for members and will accommodate same-day or next-day concerns when availability allows. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 immediately or go to your nearest emergency room. For urgent non-emergent concerns, call our office and we’ll help determine the best course of action.

Services & Procedures

  • What types of services do you offer?
We provide comprehensive primary care—including preventive checkups, chronic disease management, wellness planning, and holistic services such as nutritional counseling, mobile diagnostics, and mental health support. For pediatric care, our “Well Girl Program” and family care approach cover developmental and wellness needs. We also coordinate fertility support and offer mobile testing through trusted partners.
  • Can I receive preventive care without undergoing routine procedures, like Pap smears?
Absolutely. We provide well-woman visits and general preventive care regardless of whether you choose to have specific procedures like Pap smears. Our focus is on holistic health, and we refer to specialists when a procedure is necessary or desired by you.
  • Do you perform in-home procedures?
Yes. Our mobile services include various minor procedures such as basic wound care and point-of-care tests. We strive to bring the highest quality care directly to you, whether at home or via telehealth.
  • What conditions do you treat?
At Pink Pearl Primary Care, we provide personalized care for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including:
    • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
    • COPD and asthma
    • Diabetes and prediabetes
    • Thyroid disorders (hypo- and hyperthyroidism)
    • High cholesterol
    • Digestive concerns (IBS, bloating, reflux, constipation)
    • Anemia and nutritional deficiencies
    • Mold toxicity and environmental exposures
    • Headaches and migraines
    • Insomnia and sleep disturbances
    • Anxiety and depression
    • Allergies and sinusitis
    • COVID-19 and other viral illnesses (including common colds)
    • Bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), upper respiratory infections, and skin infections
    • This list is not comprehensive. If your concerns aren’t listed here, we’re still happy to consult with you to determine the best course of care. In some cases, we may create a custom care plan or provide a referral to a trusted medical expert.
  • Which labs do you use for testing?
At Pink Pearl Primary Care, we use a combination of conventional and functional lab partners to provide a full spectrum of diagnostic options based on your needs.
    • Standard Labs
Routine labs — such as Complete Blood Count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), lipid panels, thyroid labs, and more — are typically processed through:
      • LabCorp
      • Quest Diagnostics
      • Access Medical Labs
      • These labs are often covered by insurance, just as they would be through a traditional primary care provider. If you prefer to pay out of pocket, we can also provide cash-pay pricing options.
    • Functional & Specialty Labs
For more in-depth or functional medicine testing, we partner with Rupa Health — a platform that connects us with multiple specialty labs in one place. These include tests for:
      • Nutritional deficiencies
      • Gut health (e.g., GI-MAP, stool analysis)
      • Mold or mycotoxin exposure
      • Hormone and adrenal testing
      • Food sensitivity and inflammation panels
      • Here’s how it works:
        1. We order your test through RupaHealth.com
        2. You pay Rupa directly for the lab fees (separate from your membership or visit fee)
        3. Rupa ships the collection kit to your home
        4. You complete the sample collection (or go for a blood draw, if needed)
        5. Your results are sent to us and reviewed together during your follow-up
    • This hybrid model allows us to offer both evidence-based medical labs and functional wellness testing to support your personalized care plan.

Telehealth & Mobile Services

  • Do you offer telehealth visits?
Yes, telehealth is a key component of our care model. We use secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms to offer virtual consultations and follow-up visits, ensuring that quality care is accessible wherever you are.
  • What if I prefer in-home visits?
We love bringing care right to your door. Our mobile office visits are designed for comfort and convenience. For procedures that require lab work or physical exam, we work with a network of partners to ensure you receive timely diagnostics and care in the comfort of your home.
  • Do you work with patients outside your local area?
Yes. While Pink Pearl Primary Care is based in Palm Beach County, Emely Arrieta-Smith, APRN is a licensed autonomous nurse practitioner in the state of Florida and can see patients statewide via telehealth.
    • If you live anywhere in Florida, you are eligible for care — no matter how far from our local area you are.
💡 If you travel, you may continue to receive care as long as your legal primary residence remains within Florida.
    • This flexibility allows us to provide consistent, convenient care to patients across the state, including those in rural areas, college students, seasonal workers, or families seeking mobile-friendly support.

Holistic & Integrative Care

  • What is holistic primary care?
Holistic care takes into account your whole self—physical, mental, and emotional health. We combine evidence-based medicine with integrative practices such as nutritional counseling, stress management, and lifestyle modifications to support long-term well-being.
  • How do you incorporate nutritional counseling into care?
We offer personalized nutritional guidance based on your individual health history and goals. Our holistic nutrition approach focuses on balanced, whole-food eating, and may include lab evaluations to tailor your plan. When more detailed planning and analysis are required we can refer to nutritional specialists.

Vaccination & Medical Freedom

  • Do I have to follow a set vaccination schedule?
Your care is based on informed consent and personal choice. We provide education on vaccinations and support families who choose any path—from the standard schedule to selective or delayed vaccination. We firmly believe in medical freedom and respect each family’s decisions.

Prescriptions

  • Can Pink Pearl Primary Care prescribe controlled substances, including medications for weight loss, ADHD, or chronic pain?
  • Controlled medications are not routinely prescribed through Pink Pearl Primary Care. Medication decisions are made individually based on clinical need, applicable prescribing regulations, appropriate evaluation and monitoring, and the provider’s clinical judgment. Certain medications or conditions may require evaluation and ongoing management by an appropriate specialist.
  • Supplement Platform
    • Access to our professional supplement platform is intended for established patients of Pink Pearl Primary Care as a convenience to support individualized care plans. Pink Pearl Primary Care does not provide medical advice, supplement recommendations, or ongoing access to the platform for individuals who are not established patients. Accounts created in error or without an active patient relationship may be limited or deactivated.

Forms & Pre-authorizations

  • Pink Pearl Primary Care is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice and does not participate with insurance plans. As a result, completion of insurance-related forms, disability paperwork, FMLA paperwork, extensive medical record reviews, and prior authorizations may not be included in routine membership or wellness services.
  • Requests for forms, letters, record reviews, or prior authorizations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to additional fees. Submission of a prior authorization request does not guarantee approval, coverage, or payment by an insurance carrier.
  • Patients are responsible for verifying insurance benefits, coverage requirements, and medication formularies with their insurance plan when applicable.

COVID-19 and Other Infections

  • How do you manage infectious diseases like COVID-19?
Our mobile testing and diagnostic services include rapid testing for COVID-19, flu, and other infections. We follow CDC guidelines to ensure safe and effective management of infectious diseases, coordinating care as needed.
  • What mobile testing services do you offer?
We offer a range of mobile diagnostics, including mobile lab draws, rapid tests for respiratory infections (such as a comprehensive respiratory panel), and targeted tests for UTIs and wound cultures. Our partner network, including Nona Labs, supports on-demand testing in your area.

Emergency

  • Should I contact Pink Pearl Primary Care for a Medical Emergency?
No. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. We are not an urgent care or emergency facility and cannot safely manage emergency concerns via mobile or telehealth care. If you’re unsure whether something is an emergency, it’s always best to seek immediate care first — and follow up with us once you’re stable and safe.
